We finally made it out of the New Jersey ICW and on our way into New York, which included another 4 hour journey on “the outside” into the Atlantic. Here we met up with our friends, Mike and Barbara on The Jackie B III, who we met at the Cape May Marina. They were people who joined in for our Sunday tuna brunch. We buddy traveled with them up part of the Hudson River so we could take pictures of each others boats in front of the Statue of Liberty.
From 1892 to 1954, Ellis Island was the busiest immigrant inspection and processing station in the US. (Wikipedia)
From here, The Jackie B III continued a little farther north and we headed to a marina in Hoboken. There we met up with Glenn, Michael’s brother, who lives in NYC. While in Hoboken, shopping for provisions, as there was nothing left on the boat other than Carolina rice and some canned peas, and sightseeing was all within walking distance. We were even close to Carlo’s Bakery from the TV show Cake Boss with Buddy Valastro. Buddy wasn’t there and neither were any of his sisters who reportedly run the store, but likely only on filming days. We got a crumb cake, which was highly recommended. It was good, BUT the little German bakery cart on the next corner was wayyyyy better! Sorry Buddy
When we left Hoboken/NYC Glenn again joined as we made the journey up the Hudson River to our next and current stop. The scenery along the upper Hudson River was beautiful and highlighted by dark and stormy clouds overhead.
We are here until Monday, June 27 taking advantage of trains to tourist spots along this part of New York. Keep checking in and following us along the trip. Love to all, Gina and Mike
